Band, Metal - Thomsen, Mary Lou
This is a metal band, (identified as a "Drivringe" as found on page 8 of donor's gift of cooper tool book titled "L.V. Erichsen / Bødkerværktøj"). The band has an oblong oval shape, but is more narrow in the middle than a normal oval. It has a cut-out center that is the same shape as the band itself. The outside surface appears to have been painted black and varnished; but the inside surface of the ring has not.

This is an auger bit. It is used for wood or earth drilling. At the base of the bit is a small screw like spiral. Further up the spiral gets bigger until it stops about halfway up. Above this the rod is plain. At the end of the rod is a four-cornered pyramid. The four sides are flat, but have a scalloped shape at the top. One of the sides has "16 / SH" engraved into it. The tip of the pyramid ends with a dull point.
