Provenance |
The U.S. military uniform pieces belonged to the donor's father Arne W. Jorgensen, who later became Assistant Editor of Den Danske Pioneer. He was born April 20, 1928 in Chicago to Danish immigrant parents Henry (born Heinrik Olaf Sophus Jørgensen) and Petrea Jorgensen. He went to Denmark for a time and did an apprenticeship before returning to the U.S. He then served in Korea, where these uniforms were used (1950-1952), and then worked at the Pioneer for about 25 years. Arne's wife, the donor's mother, was Herdis E. (Kigt) Jorgensen (1936-2010). She was a Danish immigrant to the U.S. in the 1950s, became a nanny for a time, and then married Arne in 1967. The two had at least two children, the donor Jimmy and a daughter Debbie. |
