Black, man's wedding suit jacket. 3 button, short lapel with button hole in wearer's left. Seam at vest line. Split tails - 13.5 in wide. Wearer's left tail overlaps right in back. Double button at top of tails on back side. Double button cuff. Outer material is a woold blend. Inner material is a high gloss cotton/polyester. All buttons are fabric covered. Tailored seaming on back. |

This suit coat belonged to the donor's maternal grandfather, Jorgen Andersen. He wore the coat on his wedding day. He married Inger Marie Mortensen in Ringsted, Iowa in 1901. There is a photocopy of the wedding photograph located at the back of the paper accession record. Jorgen is wearing the coat in the photograph. Additional family information regarding other members of the donor's family is located in the accession record. |
