Description |
Jacket. Worn as part of an outfit (1995.074.003-.005). Long-sleeved, fitted woman's jacket. Roughly mid-thigh in length. Made from black wool. Fold down collar. Material gathered at shoulders, creating a slightly "puffy" look. Proper front center opening secured by three round textured thread-covered buttons. Three similar but smaller buttons at each sleeve end for decoration. Two hip pockets with flaps. Proper back surface has an 11" long slit at the bottom to allow ease of movement. Interior lined with shiny black material. Pocket at proper left interior. |

This jacket was made by Rosa Jorgensen in Denmark. She brought this jacket and several other items of clothing with her when she immigrated in 1910. Rosa often wore this handmade jacket with her black-and-white checked wool blouse (1995.074.003) and a muskrat pill box hat (1995.074.005). Rosa Jorgensen's husband was Hans Jorgensen. |
