Description |
A men's wool suit coat. The double-breasted coat is made from black wool with a dark green fabric lining, possibly a cotton blend. There are six metal buttons covered in wool at the front with two smaller buttons at each cuff. A black tag at the interior center of the collar reads, "Holmbom & Thomsen / AARHUS" in metallic gold thread. There is a 20" pleat detail at back lower center with two covered buttons at the top. |

This wedding coat belonged to Martinus Jensen. He wore this coat, along with vest (1996.184.006) for his wedding to Inger Jensen. The two married on April 17, 1907 in Viby Parish, Århus County, Denmark. The couple immigrated to the U.S. in 1916. The museum's collection also contains Inger Jensen's wedding dress (1996.184.001a,b). |
