Black and white photograph of a couple - Laura and Einar Lange - dressed in period clothing in their backyard. There is a white picket fence behind them and a tree. Laura has on a long skirt and a bodice with a fitted body and puffy sleeves (see these pieces later in this gift). She is also wearing a hat and holding onto an umbrella with her right hand. She has her proper left hand resting inside the proper right elbow of Einar, who is standing at the viewer's right. He is wearing a suit and bowtie with a light-colored collared shirt. His derby hat is in his left hand and it is raised to chest level. His cane is over his left arm. Both are smiling at something to the viewer right. Handwriting on the back in pen reads, "Laura and Einar Lange / Their backyard 1211 6th Ave. S.E. / Rochester, Minnesota / Laura has the dress great-great / grandfather wove for his wife Anna. / Einar in clothing to look like / a gentleman of same period. / About 1958 I think." |

This photo shows Einar and Laura Lange dressed in period clothing. Laura's dress was one Loeymae Lange's great-great grandfather Johannes Lange made for his wife Anna - pieces of the outfit are in the museum's collection (2008.019). --------------- Family History: Loeymae Lange (the donor) is the daughter of Einar Martin Lange (1909-1999) and Laura Ovidia Bergesen Lange (1908-1994). Laura was of Norwegian descent. Loeymae is also the great granddaughter of Johannes Joaquin Lange (1835-1924) and Anna Christina Lange. One of Johannes' and Anna's children was Martin, Loeymae's grandfather (born Dec. 13, 1877, in Skarup, Denmark; died Sept. 17, 1972, in Racine, Wisconsin). On May 5, 1904, he married Ellen Hansen (born Oct. 21, 1883, in Denmark; died May 11, 1975, in Racine, Wisconsin). They had seven children, one of which was Einar, Loeymae's father.
