Description |
Wooden picture frame, rectangular in shape. The long pieces of the frame are carved with lines running the length of each piece, with small gouges to look like natural wood imperfections. Attached at each corner are wooden leaves. There is gold gilt detailing on the inner "liner" of the frame. On the back are eye hooks for hanging. The wood has a dark brown varnish. There is no glass or backing material. |

This picture frame was owned by the Fred H. Johnsen family (the donor's father and family). FAMILY HISTORY: Catherine Hyatt, born Mabel Catherine Johnsen, was the daughter of Fred and Margaret Johnsen. Fred Johnsen was a carpenter. He and Margaret were married on 27 October 1898, and they had three children. Frieda (Johnsen) Frankum was the eldest daughter, and died in 1973. The donor was born in Omaha, Nebraska on 21 January 1906, and died January 21, 2004. Rudolph (Rudy) was born in Omaha, and was 18 years old in 1920. Both Fred and Margaret appear to have passed away in 1958. Catherine attended nursing school in Colorado. Her husband's name is unknown. Lucille Richart Bachman and Margaret Richart Muckey are the daughters of the donor. |
