Description |
Framed drawing of the Lassen family tree which depicts an actual tree complete with leaves at the top. To the right below the leaves is the family crest, and to the left is a rectangle with the following inside: "Owners & Possessors / To The / Castels of Brdsberg. / and Jjemso / in Norway / and the Castle of / Dragsholm. / Adelerborg. / Denmark." The line starts at the base of the tree with Cort Sivertsen Adeler born in 1626. There are seven people listed along the trunk of the tree, and four on the left large branch, two on the right large branch. Off of the top of the trunk are five children, off the left branch are six children, and off the right are seven children. The artist's signature is located in the bottom right corner and reads, "N.J. Kelly/Artist." At the top of the trunk is the individual "Carl Sivertsen Adeler Lassen/Born 1849/Emigrated to U.S. 1871/Married Mary Boletta/Johnson/May 24.1873." There is a crown design at the top of the trunk, above the name of Carl Lassen. The design includes the word "Their.Only.Son." under the crown. The drawing is housed inside a brown and gold gilt frame. Matted with a white (now discolored) board. Donor's father is at the top of the tree, "Fred". It appears as though the tree was drawn on with ink or pencil and then water-colored. The lettering is in ink. (Viewer's perspective used throughout catalog.) |
