Description |
Print of a painting by Olaf Wieghorst entitled "Apache Renegade". It shows Native American men riding horses in the foreground with additional individuals riding in the background. They are in a desert landscape with a red dirt ground and mountains in the distance. The men in the foreground are wearing a mixture of traditional and modern clothing including jeans, leather boots, vests, hide jackets, and beaded jewelry. Three of the men are carrying rifles. The title is below the image at center. Two pencil inscriptions penned by the artist are below the print; the one at viewer's left reads, "252/550 FOR ASTa/BEST Wishes/Olaf Wieghorst/11-9-80" and the artist's signature is on the viewer's right. The print is housed under light blue, navy, and cream colored mats as well as glass in a wood frame which is stained dark brown and has a raised and rounded external perimeter. The internal perimeter is painted a metallic bronze color. Labels on the reverse read, "the/FRAME HOUSE/PICTURE FRAMING FINE ART/OCEANSIDE SAN CLEMENTE" and "THE ART WORK IN THIS FRAME HAS BEEN 'MUSEUM MOUNTED' USING THE FINEST QUALITY MATERIALS". In a pocket on the reverse side is a card certifying the authenticity of the print. |

Donor Asta Christensen Forrest is #2287 on the museum's Wall of Honor. The donor's mother, Astrid Mary Christensen Mortensen, is # 2288. Asta Christensen Forrest immigrated in 1950 and settled in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Astrid Mary Christensen Mortensen immigrated in 1954 and settled in Pasadena, California. |
