Description |
A pair of off-white pants for a two piece union suit. The associated shirt is 2016.038.010a. The fabric of the pants is thick and slightly stretchy. The pants have an elastic band at the waist. On this band are two loops of fabric oriented horizontally, one on each side in the front. The proper right loop has what appears to be "C-9074" written on it. On the inside of the waistband, approximately where the proper left loop is on the front, is stamped "C-9074". Below the waistband is a 6.5 inch vertical opening covered by a flap. The cuffs of the pants are narrower than the rest of the leg. |

These union suit pants belonged to the donor. Hans Jorgen Clausen emigrated from Vejstrup, Denmark to the U.S. in May of 1953, travelling by ship and then Greyhound bus to Great Falls, Montana. He was active service in the U.S. Army from July 1954 through June 1956, stationed in Heidelberg, Germany after doing basic training and aircraft mechanics training. Following his military service, Hans was a farm hand, and then a student at Grandview University (then College) in Des Moines, Iowa from 1956 to 1958. From there he attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obipo, California, studying BSME mechanical engineering. |
