Provenance |
According to the Description of Gift Material in the Deed of Gift, the children's shoes belonged to donor Elie Steffensen's mother, Karen Thinghøj Pedersen, and were likely worn by Karen as a child. The donor, Elie Steffensen, and her brother Paul Egon Thinghøj Pedersen, immigrated with their parents, Christian and Karen Thinghøj Pedersen, in 1929 and settled primarily in Chicago, Illinois. The museum's collection also contains a cooking utensil, called a krustadejern, that was originally owned by Karen Thinghøj Pedersen. The krustadejern was use to mold pastry cups. Its catalog number is 1988.022.001. |
