Print on thick pressed cardboard of the Swedish American Line ship the M.S. Gripsholm. The ship takes up the length of the print. It is centered and moving off into the ocean on the viewer's right. Below the ship the ocean water is various shades of blue with waves and white caps. A wave is crashing against the bow of the ship. The ship is white with five rows of cabin windows in the lower section and the ship's name "GRIPSHOLM" in the center of the bow. It has a two level deck with suspended life boats. There appear to be three individuals on deck at the front of the boat. The three crowns of Sweden design is located on the side of each of the two smoke stacks as well as on the front of the ship. A blue background is present behind the gold crowns on the stacks. An American flag is flying on the forward mast and the Swedish flag on the back mast. The sky behind the ship is in shades of blue with white clouds. An artist's mark is located in the viewer's bottom right corner but is not legible. The print is housed in a blonde wood frame with a raised exterior perimeter. A gold colored metal plaque is mounted at the center of the bottom edge and reads, "M.S. GRIPSHOLM/Swedish American Line". |
