Description |
The pennant is triangular in shape and made of red felt. Sewn to the left side of the front of the pennant is a red felt circle with an undulating edge. Sewn on top of that red piece is a white leather circle on which the Dana College seal is printed. The seal depicts a man on the prow of a Viking ship within the shape of a shield. Oriented in a circle around the shield is text that reads: "DANA COLLEGE / VERITAS VINCIT". To the right of the seal is sewn white felt text that reads: "DANA '38". Along the left edge of the pennant is a vertical strip of white felt, behind which two pairs of red and white felt strips are sewn. Printed in red on a white rectangular paper label adhered to the back of the pennant is text that reads: "OLSEN'S / ATHLETIC AWARDS / 720 Park Avenue Racine, Wis. / Phone JACKSON 3610". |

This item is from the lot purchased by the Museum from Dana College. On July 9, 2010, following the closure of Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, staff members from the Museum went to Dana and retrieved a number of items from the campus and proceeded to provide temporary housing and safekeeping until this purchase was negotiated and completed on November 3, 2011. OBJECT SPECIFIC INFO: The Dana pennants were created and used by the College. |
