This velvet cloth fragment was made by Bertine Jensen, (later Bertine Jensen Norregaard, b. 1877-d.1973). Bertine brought many items with her when she immigrated in 1906. Bertine met her future husband Jacob Norregaard in 1903-1904, when they were both teaching gymnastics and folk dancing at folk schools in Denmark. They became engaged, and Jacob sailed from Bremerhaven to Tyler, Minnesota in 1905. Bertine immigrated shortly thereafter, and the two were married in Minneapolis, Minnesota on 10 November 1906. |
