Provenance |
This cake knife was given to Lars and Ingeborg Nielsen by a relative in Denmark to express sympathy for the loss of their daughter, Meta Christina Nielsen (age 10). This serving spoon is from a gift from the family of Lars and Ingeborg (Andersen) Nielsen. Upon coming to America in 1905, Lars and Ingeborg found work in and around Omaha, NE. In 1908, Lars purchased a small dairy farm in an area known as Carter Lake, IA, and near East Omaha. They were married a short time later. Four daughters were born to them. In 1925, the family visited Denmark with the Danish Brotherhood excursion. Lars died suddenly in 1929, and Ingeborg died in 1967 at age 80. |
