Description |
The suitcase is rectangular in shape and crafted from a combination of brown fabric and leather. Metal hardware and attachments are also present on the suitcase. Each corner of the artifact is reinforced with a leather triangle that is secured in place with metal brads. Two belt straps, one on either side of center, go around the entire suitcase vertically and buckle on the top side. There are two metal latches that secure the case shut and are located on the outside edges of the leather belt straps on the top side of the suitcase. A leather handle is also present on this side of the artifact. It has an attached leather luggage tag which includes the name "Jens Dixen". Above the handle is a central keyhole and lock. The front of the suitcase includes three different stickers, two on the proper left side and one at center in between the leather belt straps. The center sticker is pink and white in color and depicts a town landscape with a church. It reads, "Fribourg/HOTEL TERMINUS". The sticker on the top section of the proper left front shows a hotel scene in a mountain range and it reads, "HOTEL MEYERHOF IN HOSPENTHAL". Below this, in the proper left bottom section of the front side, is a blue sticker. It shows a hotel building with a yellow sky and red mountains. The text reads, "VEVEY/SUISSE/HOTEL TOURING/& GARE/A. MENG-MARTI. PROP." There is another sticker, making four in total, on the proper left side of the suitcase. It is circular in design with a red triangular pattern along the edge. Some wear has occurred and tears make the hotel name illegible. The visible words read, "HOTEL PUG_____/Martigny/Gare/MEME MADISON GRAND HOTEL CRETTEX, CHAMEX (VALAIS)". The inside of the suitcase is covered in a blue fabric with a brown leaf design. Due to wear the blue color is fading and stained red in places. Four leather strap sets, two in each half of the suitcase, are present to secure belongings during use. The top half of the suitcase has two horizontal flaps covered in fabric which could be used to protect folded clothing. The top flap has black writing on the outside. It reads, "Thomas Dinesen/FELS/______". |
