The third design is of the Fredericia's famous landmark, the Landsoldaten [Foot Soldier] statue, in green and gray thread. The fourth design is of two crossed Danish flags flanked by greenery. Backing made of plain white material. There is a large sticker with a handwritten note regarding the provenance of this bellpull (see provenance field for details). Provenance |
This bellpull was purchased by donor Carol Hansen for 25 cents at a sale, possibly an estate sale, at an unknown date. A sticker on the proper back surface gives the following provenance: "For: Ruth Anderson. From Aunt Christine. This needlepoint was made by Grandma Petersen's niece Dagny Slumstrup, Fredericia, Denmark. The slogan: Fredercia [sic] (her hometown) grundlagt established in 1650. Consult a Danish history book for the meaning of the symbols. I received this wall hanging from cousin Dagny, for Christmas. C.M.C." |
