Description |
A razor strop. The strop is a long, thick rectangular band of brown leather with a metal loop on one end. The loop can be used to hand the strop or maintaining a better grip while sharpening an object. The other end has a paddle shape with print on wither side. One side reads "FINISH / HIGH QUALITY / 8884." The other side reads "SHARPEN." |

The razor strop came from the Estate of Harald Madsen. There is no specific information regarding how he used or acquired the object. ------------------------------------ Donor History: Harald P. Madsen, the son of Rasmus and Hanna Johnson Madsen, was born in Spokane, Washington on June 20, 1911. He died at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa on July 4, 1989 at the age of 78 years and 14 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Audubon County Schools. Harald farmed with his parents as a boy. While still a teenager, he became ill with MS. Harald farmed as long as he was able. When the Friendship Home was completed in 1959, Harald became a resident. |
