Description |
Metal medallion commemorating Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II's visit to Dana College in Blair, NE. Text around rim of medallion front reads, "1776 BICENTENNIAL 1976 COMMENCEMENT." In the center is Dana College's seal and motto, "VERITAS VINCIT." Text on back of medal reads, "COMMEMORATING THE VISIT/ OF HER MAJESTY/ QUEEN MARGRETHE II/ OF DENMARK/ THURSDAY MAY 20, 1976/ DANA COLLEGE, BLAIR/ NEBRASKA." The medallion hangs from a red, white, and blue ribbon 15" long. One end has a brass snap closure. |

Provenance |
Donor grew up and lived in Harlan, IA until 1964 when he moved to California. In 1972, he returned to the Midwest to attend Dana College in Blair, NE. In 1976, he attended Pacific Theological Society in Berkeley, CA and graduated in 1980. Later that year on October 12, he was ordained into the Lutheran Church. He served as parish pastor for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morro Bay, CA for several years after his installation. This collection comes from the donor's years at Dana College, particularly Queen Margrethe II's visit to speak at commencement on May 20, 1976. The donor was Senior Class President for the Class of 1976 and was invited to attend the reception with the Queen following commencement. |
