Provenance |
These pieces were used by the donor, Reverand Ottar Jorgensen. The collar and its box and lid were made in Denmark and came with the robe found in 1985.076.003. Ottar served the following churches--St. Peders in Minneapolis, MN from 1921-1926, and both Bethlehem in Cedar Falls, IA from 1926-1943 and St. Ansgar in Waterloo, IA from 1926-1941. He served Trinity near Humbolt Park in Chicago from 1943-1946, and then served again at St. Peders in Minneapolis from 1946 until he retired in 1963. A Danish minister's robe (1985.076.003) was given to the donor by the Danish American Ladies Aid Society of Copenhagen, Denmark for his ordination July 31, 1921, in Kimballton, Iowa. The donor's father Jens Jorgensen had previously been the pastor here. The donor used this robe exclusively until 1943, when other American-made robes came into general use. |
