Provenance |
All three plates were owned by the donor and her late husband Herbert. The plates were purchased from the churches - Alvina and Herbert received the Golgotha plate from Herbert's mother, Alvina's mother gave them the St. Paul's plate, and Alvina and Herbert purchased the Pella plate. The plates were displayed in their home for years. All three churches were started by Danish immigrants. St. Paul's, of rural Neola, Iowa, was Alvina's home church. Her maternal grandparents (including her American born grandfather) were charter members. St. Paul's has since left the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. This plate given in memory of the donor's mother Lillie Bondo Larsen, a lifelong member. |
