Provenance |
This is a Danish Sisterhood pin that may have originally attached to a ribbon or badge. The Danish Sisterhood objects in this gift lot are associated with Danish Sisterhood Lodge #127 of Turin, Iowa. This DS lodge was chartered on January 1, 1912. This gift lot was donated by Kermit Ravnsborg, son of Rasmus Rasmussen Ravnsborg. It is assumed that the objects either belonged to Kermit or Rasmus. Rasmus settled in Turin, Iowa. -------------------------------------------------------------- FAMILY HISTORY: Rasmus Rasmussen Ravnsborg immigrated to the United States from Denmark in 1889. He is on the WOH. Rasmus was born on March 28, 1873 in Horsens, Denmark. He immigrated in March of 1889 with his family (father Frederick; mother Serina; brothers Soren, Martin, and Anton; and sisters Stena, Gina, Marne, and Maria). Rasmus settled in Turin, Iowa and was a farmer about five miles southeast of Turin. He built a new home in 1903 and brought his bride to the home in 1905. They had four sons. His wife was Clara Victoria Hansen. According to the WOH file, Rasmus was a member of the Danish Brotherhood in America and enjoyed participating in community events. |
