Steffensen, Elie Arne, Christian Chicago, Illinois Scandinavian Club banner flag |
Provenance |
This tassle may have been used with a banner or flag that belonged to the donor's uncle Christian Arne. (At the time of cataloging this tassel, the banner and flag had not yet been located.) Christian Arne lived in Chicago. The banner belonged to the Scandinavian Club of Leyden Township (Elmwood Park area). Johan Ingvald Jensen was a member of the club. The club was formed around 1931, and disbanded before 1940. Mr. Jensen lived in Elmwood Park, and he kept the flag there. Later, it was inherited by Mr. Jensen's daughter, Ella. She gave it to Elie so that it might one day be passed on to "an appropriate party." |
