Description |
Print of the Ten Commandments in Danish. The text is entitled "De ti Bud" and lists the commandments of the Bible under Roman numerals from one to ten. All of the text is a dark green color and the script is surrounded by a green rectangular border. There are biblical images and swirls of pink and gold color throughout the border. To the viewer's left of the title are two stone tables and to the viewer's right is the image of three crosses during the crucifixion. At bottom center is an image of Jesus teaching or preaching to a large group of people. Below the print to the viewer's right is the maker's information. "INTERNATIONAL PUB. ASS'N, COLLEGE VIEW, NEBR. (DANISH)". The print is housed under glass in a wood frame that is stained brown with a clear varnish. There is an inlayed foliage motif carved in the center of the frame around the whole piece. This section is painted a light bronze color. |

The print depicts The Ten Commandments in Danish. It was produced by the "International Pub. Ass'n" in College View, Nebraska. The print hung in the donor's living room for as long as she can remember, which is over seventy-nine years. The donor is the sister of Chris Petersen. The artifact was brought to the museum by Ruth Swanson. |
