Provenance |
Bolette MacMullan, a teacher, was first married to Peter Lisberg, who was the recipient of many of the trophies in the gift. Bolette was married a second time to Ralph MacMullan after Peter died. Peter Lisberg was born September 19, 1893 in Randers, Denmark. He came to the U.S. in 1911 and became a U.S. citizen in 1917. He was a salesman for Hygrade Food Products. He was also an Olympic swimmer and won many medals and cups for swimming. He married Bolette on July 15, 1928 and died March 1, 1949. Object included in the exhibition "Sports for Sports' Sake: Athletes and Ethnicity in Danish America" from April 23, 2016-September 4, 2017. |
