Description |
Off-white crocheted bedspread consisting of a series of 5 1/2" blocks. Bedspread has repeating diamond shapes reminiscent of God's Eye weavings. Checkered pattern among parts of the diamond shapes and along the fluted border. Almost square in shape. Possibly for a queen-sized or full-sized bed. The outer edges of the corners are not pointed; they are made in such a way that when the bedspread is laying flat on the bed, the edges lay completely flat against the sides of the bed (instead of traditional bedspreads, where the excess material would create a triangular fold at bed corners). |

Caroline was born in Denmark in 1851. She immigrated at the age of 18 to Clay County, South Dakota. She later married Peter Lund (born 1850), a Danish immigrant from Slesvig, on March 6, 1874. Peter and Caroline had six children. Caroline died in 1927 and Peter died in 1938. Caroline's diary is at Grand View College. The donor is Caroline's and Peter's grandson. |
