Description |
The vertically oriented, color poster is for a theater production of Paa Gale Veje (On Gale Roads). The background of the poster is turquoise blue with printed text in Danish. The title of the production is written in large red shaded letters across the middle on a white ribbon. There are three characters depicted, one woman and two men. The woman is shown in a frilly white dress and the two men are shown in suits. The top left and middle portions of the poster appear to have theater information for the viewer and a list of the cast. The bottom right corner of the poster has a more detailed list of the cast and crew. On the bottom left corner there is a printed signature from the artist of the poster that reads: "Axel Andersen / 1909". The poster is attached to a piece of fiber board. |

The poster is from a 1909 production of "Paa Gale Veje" that Grethe Bichel's father, Ove Knudsen, participated in before he left for America. Ove gave up acting once he immigrated, but did found the Scandinavian American Theatre Company. |
