Description |
Coffee mill. Black stand-up mill made of iron. The base is rectangular with a sort of layered base, four posts, and then a sort of layered top on that. A small box slides inside to catch the coffee. There is a hole in each short side so that the mill can be attached to a table top. Attached to the top center of that "roof" is the mill portion, a rounded section with a bowl shaped section above. The bowl has a domed lid with a round knob on top, and the lid swivels to the side. Attached to the side of the mill is a large wheel with a sort of latice-work design and a turned wooden handle on the outside. On the inside of the wheel is, in raised letters, "THE SWIFT MILL. LANE BROTHERS POUGHKEEPSIE N.Y." On the top part of the base, just in front of the attached mill section, is the number "12." On the side of the mill, opposite the wheel, is "PAT'D FEB 9 1875". |
