Provenance |
This pillowcases was made by the donor's mother, Jensine Bothilde Christensen Jensen, probably prior to 1925. The initials BC on the pillowcases stand for Bothilde Christensen. Christensen was Bothilde's maiden name. Bothilde married Jens Jensen after she made this pillowcase. Bothilde was born in 1899 in Jerslev and later lived in Brønderslev (north of Aalborg). She worked in a bakery in Vrå prior to her immigration to the United States in 1925. Her husband, Jens Jensen, was a bricklayer who came to the United States in 1910 and settled in Omaha, Nebraska. Jens and Bothilde corresponded for 14 years before marrying in April 1925. |
