Description |
Bureau scarf. Made from white cotton and oblong oval in shape. White lace trim is 1/2" wide and has picots. Each rounded end has a different embroidered design. At one end, the Danish motto "Hilsen fra Danmark" [Greetings from Denmark] is embroidered in red satin stitch. Below the motto, there is a pair of crossed Danish flags, along with two flowers (one red and one blue) and two golden wheat stalks. The other short end has a green landscape of a brown windmill against a sky with two white and blue clouds. |

Donor referred to this as a "drawer runner." The documentation regarding this bureau scarf is unclear. It appears that the bureau scarf may have been a gift to Alma Andrea Wilson, one of the donor's maternal aunts, during a visit to Denmark. Alma appears to have given this scarf to the donor at a later date. |
