Description |
A men's dress shirt. The long-sleeve, white cotton or linen shirt has a stiff collar that has a tiny black plastic button to hold is closed. A white tag with blue print is sewn at the nape of the collar on the inter and reads, "Aage Wisse / English House / AALBORG." There are vertically placed white plastic buttons running down the center of the shirt. A stiffer fabric, possibly linen, that is shape into an oval is on the chest for added decoration. There is a stripe detail woven into that fabric. The sleeve slightly tapers to the open cuff. There is a tiny black plastic button on each cuff. |

This dress shirt is part of a suit that was worn by the donor's husband, Emborg Petersen, when he immigrated to the United States in 1926 from Aalborg, Denmark. He was headed for Massena, Iowa. He came originally to his brother Walter's home and then moved to Exira. He worked as a meat cutter and a black smith. It is presumed he met his wife Olive in Exira. |
