Description |
Needlework picture that depicts a female winged angel flying with a winged cherub on her back. The needlework kit was purchased in Denmark and completed by the donor's aunt and mother. The sculpture depicted is also present on the Dana College campus in Blair, Nebraska. The angel is wearing a long flowing gown, Greek in style. Both of her arms are stretched in front of her. In her hands are clusters of flowers or fruit. Three sections of the clusters are falling downward. The angel's legs are in a striding position and she is looking over her right shoulder. On the angel's back is a naked cherub with smaller wings. This child is also looking to the viewer's left. In the child's right hand is a torch with a lit flame. The needlework was completed with white, cream, and gray threads with a black thread background. The needlework picture housed in a wood frame under glass. The frame edges angle upwards to a raised exterior perimeter and linear carvings are around the internal edge. The frame is painted a light silver color. |
