Provenance |
This crochet hook is part of a needlework or sewing kit. The kit does not have clear provenance available in the file. There are three possibilities of who owned this kit listed below. ---Elna Larsen, one of the donor's for this gift. ---Anna Christensen, Elna's mother. She was a seamstress. ---Metha Larsen, the sister to Ludvig Larsen (donor). She may be connected to other objects in this gift lot. It is reasonable to assume the kit belonged to Elna or her mother. -------------------------------------------------------------- BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Ludvig Larsen (donor), son of Lars and Katrine Andersen Larsen, was born September 3, 1905 near Elk Horn, Iowa. He married Elna M. Christensen on April 14, 1932 at Elk Horn, and they farmed in the Elk Horn and Kimballton areas until 1970 when they retired to Elk Horn. Ludvig died March 26, 1991 at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Elna died November 27, 2001. The couple had three children - (Anna) Marilyn Larsen (Hansen), David Roger Larsen, and Carol Elaine Larsen (Fleming). Ludvig's wife Elna was the daughter of Thomas and Anna Christensen, born February 22, 1907 in rural Elk Horn. Anna was an accomplished seamstress, having taken a dressmaking course in Harlan. She was the daughter of Danish immigrant Albert Hansen Christensen who farmed near Jacksonville, IA. Anna married Thomas on March 19, 1902. In 1932, the couple retired and moved to a home in Kimballton. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary there in 1962. Thomas died a few months later, and Anna in 1966. Lars Larsen, father of Ludvig, was born July 30, 1857 in Ebberup Kærum Parish, Fyn, Denmark, and later immigrated to Elk Horn. His wife was Ane Katrine Andersen (b. Jan. 7, 1868, d. Feb. 21, 1956). |
