Description |
Quilt. Pieced but not quilted. Quilt has nine square blocks, with each block measuring approximately 17" x 17". Each square block has an octagon in the center. Each corner of the square block has a group of three triangles, which all point inward, towards the octagon. The blocks are made from predominately blue, brown, red, pink and white fabrics with various patterns. The orange, brown, green and yellow paisley print bordering the blocks on the proper front is also used for the backing. |

Provenance |
This quilt was made by Mrs. Anna Christiansen and given to Dora Kathrine Nelsen as a gift. According to the donors, the quilt has never been used. Mrs. Anna Christiansen was the wife of Danish immigrant Pastor Axel Christiansen, and Dora Kathrine Nelsen was donor Doris (Hansen) Robertson's mother. Pastor Axel Christiansen and the donor's father, Pastor Hans Peter Kristian Hansen both graduated from Dana College and Seminary in Blair, Nebraska. The museum's collection contains two photographs of Axel and Anna Christiansen (1987.085.001 and 1987.085.002), as well as Anna's wedding dress (1987.085.013a, b, and c). |
