Description |
Brass paperweight resembling a spinning wheel. It is a small piece with some functioning parts. The spinning wheel and the part where material would be threaded both rotate. Turning the spinning wheel also lifts a small lever on the side. Both of these parts are attached to a table bottom with four legs that are slightly slanted. There is gold paint on the underside. |

Almost all items in this accession relate to the donor's grandfather, Asmus Christian Vogt (Fogt, original Danish spelling--changed after immigrating). He was born in Nakskov, Denmark on Dec. 13, 1868. He immigrated to the U.S.--Omaha, NE--1892. He died in Evanston, IL on June 10, 1949. During his lifetime, Vogt practiced metalworking.
