Description |
Skirt portion of a two-piece dress. Goes with bodice 2008.019.018. Skirt is dark green in color and has a textured surface. The green seems to be the detail portion and the background is more of a black. Has a sort of upholstery feel to it--soft on the surface like silk, but thicker. Simple design. Waistband is about 1" thick and the skirt just flows down from that. There are three panels. There is no pleating in front, but there is in back. The back is longer, leaves room for a bustle. The lining inside is a dark brown muslin or linen. There is a black band at the very bottom edge inside. The waistband closes in back with hooks and eyes. On the end of the proper left side is a vertical bar that a hook can slip over, and a gold eye for a hook. On the end of the proper right side are two small hooks at the very end, a larger hook just inside from those, and then another smaller hook about 1" in from the larger one. I'm not sure which of the hooks is or is not original, but I imagine the gold eye is not. There is a small loop attached to the inside of the waistband on the proper right side. Black. |
