Description |
Large cylindrical wooden cheese box - it resembles a short, straight barrel or a drum. Thin blond wood with flat sides curled into a circle and held together with tiny nails. There is a band around the bottom and another around the top. On top are two large slats of wood, and a third that is detached. On the top is stamped in black ink "ELKHORN MERC___ CO / ELK HORN IA". On the side, written in pencil, is "500". On bottom are three slats of wood, with a large section open (wood slats missing). There is a very thin metal strap on the side of the box on the "500" side. |
