Description |
Gold-colored Harmonien pin that reads, "K. Sørensen/ 50/ Æresmedlen/ Harmonien." The pin has a decorative name plate with his name engraved on it. There is a decorative "50" charm hanging beneath it. On both side of the "50," there are three link chains that hold a lyre charm. The lyre is the official symbol of the Harmonien. There are two sashes/banners that wrap around the lyre that read, "Æresmedlen/ Harmonien." "Æresmedlen" means "Honorary Member." At the base of the lyre in a circle is the number "25." The back side of the pin is not decorated, but does have an engraving of "8.C Solid Gold" on the base of the lyre. |

This Harmonien pin belonged to the donor, Karl Dan Sorensen. Mr. Sorensen became a member of the group in the late 1940's. Per his note he has been a professional singer in New England for 40 years and he wears a Harmonien pin (not this one) every time he sings a concert. The pin donated, a commemorative (50 yrs) pin, was only worn on special occasions. The donor's father, Karl L. Sorensen was also an accomplished musician and a member of the Harmonien Singing Society. |
