Shown here is American economist Alvin Harvey Hansen. He was born on August 23, 1887 to Danish immigrants Niels and Marie Bergitta (Nielsen) Hansen in Viborg, South Dakota. He studied at Yankton and the University of Wisconsin. He taught at Brown, the University of Minnesota, and then joined Harvard's faculty in 1937. His focus was Keynesian economics and he was heavily involved in the United States government's research and economic policies. Hansen retired in 1962 and died June 6, 1975. |
