Description |
Black and white photograph of the Mandø bus in Denmark. The bus is pictured driving along the beach in South Jutland. There are three people on the left side of the photograph waiting for the bus. The bus has huge wheels and a flat top. The back of the photograph has two labels that are taped to the back and provide brief information on the subject of the photograph. On the back, "handø-bussen J 106x" is pencilled at the top. "COPYRIGHT / ROYAL DANISH MINISTRY / FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS / Press Department / Copenhagen - Denmark" There are two labels attached to the middle. The top reads: "DENMARK/MARSH REGION, South Jutland / Salt marshes consisting of clay deposited by tidal / water occur along the west coast of South Jutland / where there is a perceptible tidal range. The areas / are only some three feet above sea level, but are / well protected by dikes." The lower reads: "The Mandø-bus - At low tide it is possible to drive / across the tidal flats to the small island of Mandø / off the west coast. / The truck used has tractor-wheels and must be well / protected against corrosion." Stamped beneath them are the words "COPYRIGHT / SVEN THOBY / Sondervigvej 113 / København - Vanløse / Tlf. 71 22 87". |
