Description |
Hand-colored black and white photograph showing a designed flowerbed planted on a hillside. It reads "WELCOME / DANIA AND / APRIL [Denmark crest] 19-23 / DANNEBROG", "Welcome" and the year in blue flowers and the other words in yellow. There are two men in dark suits and hats walking at the top of the green hill, one facing toward the flowers and the other facing the white structure at the top of the hill. A third man lies in the grass on the far viewer right. The building has a central dome to the viewer right, only partially viewable in the photo, and a wing that stretches across the top of the hill. There is an illegible handwritten mark on the back as well as a circled "168" in pencil. Stamped near the center in blue ink is the outline of a bear with words above, in, and below it. They read: "GENUINE / ARTISTO / JUL 5 1932 / OVERSIZE ENLARGEMENT / GUARANTEED BY / BEAR PHOTO SERVICE". The photo was formerly housed under glass in a wood frame with geometric designs and a gold metallic paint. An inscription in pen and pencil on the reverse side read: "Compliments of Bear Photo Service/Photo by Karen Klindt" and "In memory of Louis & Lonnie Quist/Donated by Mary Quist Anderson". |
