Description |
Photograph: The black and white, horizontally oriented photograph is a portrait of the Hans Peters Nelson family, consisting of one woman, one man, and six boys. The man and boys are all wearing dark suits, light colored shirts, and bow ties. The woman is wearing a dark patterned dress with long sleeves. Standing in the back row (from the viewer's left) are Walter Nelson, Henry C. Nelson, and John F. Nelson. In the middle row are Hans P. (Pete) Nelson, Enos E. Nelson, Otto A. Nelson, and Anna (Nora) Eleanora Nelson. In the front row is Nels P. Nelson. Typed onto a piece of beige paper below the photograph is a list of the names of each family member and their birth and death dates. Frame: The photograph is held within a wooden frame with glass across the front. The inner edge of the frame is painted gold. The front and sides of the frame are covered with strips of paper to give the appearance of brown wood grain. A piece of beige pressed paper board is attached to the back of the frame with metal framing tacks. |

The photograph depicts Hans Peters Nelson (6/9/1853 - 1/3/1933), his wife Anna (Nora) Eleanora Nelson (7/27/1858 - 2/6/1940), and their six children: Walter Nelson (2/15/1887 - 7/2/1948), Henry C. Nelson (4/2/1883 - 1/10/1973), John F. Nelson (8/7/1884 - 8/24/1966), Enos E. Nelson (10/18/1892 - 12/4/1973), Otto A. Nelson (8/15/1889 - 8/7/1934), and Nels P. Nelson (2/14/1898 - 12/9/1968). Hans and Anna Nelson were the paternal grandparents of Pearl Sons, the donor. A few basic pages of family history and genealogy are located in the accession file. |
