Description |
The vertically oriented, black and white photograph is a portrait of the then Crown Prince of Denmark, the future King Frederik VIII. He is visible from the knees up and is wearing a dark military uniform with medals pinned across the left side of his chest. There is a light colored sash across his body. In front of him he is holding a dark hat and a cluster of light colored streamers (?). The background is blank except for the hint of an element in the viewer's lower left corner, perhaps a piece of furniture. The photograph is adhered to a piece of off-white mat board. Imprinted on the mat board in the viewer's lower left corner below the photograph is: "Eneberettiget". His signature is handwritten on the mat board, centered below the photograph. Around the photograph is a border of gold-colored pressed paper board with a design of raised dots. A large piece of mat board surrounding the photograph is dark grey/brown. Handwritten in the corner of the back of the mat board is, "oval / 2 niches deep / white line around", and then a drawing of a circular shape. The photograph probably used to be in a frame because housed with it is a piece of glass and a piece of wood, both the same size as the mat board. |
