Provenance |
The name Johannes Otto Petersen is written on the back, indicating that he is the subject. The photos in this accession relate to the donor's step-father's younger brother Johannes Otto Petersen. Shortly before his death he had given John an album of photos taken during his years in the U.S. Johannes Otto Petersen's hometown was Fredericia, Denmark. He worked in the 1920s as a linotypist with the Danish Lutheran Publishing House in Nebraska. On his return to Denmark he spent the rest of his life as a linotypist with Politiken Newspaper. He died in 1982. The donor removed the photographs from their original album. June Sampson identified some of the locations in the photographs in her Thank You Letter to the donor as Blair, Nebraska; Racine, Wisconsin; California; and Montana. |
