Provenance |
The back of the photograph states that this couple was married in 1904 in northern Jutland. Based on visual comparison, the groom in this photograph may be Sophus Mühldorff, who is pictured in 1994.259.077. However, there is no other evidence to support this. A note in the accession file states that the pictures in this accession are primarily of Christian Smith's family. There was a family legend that his great-grandmother was the illegitimate daughter of the king. The donor grew up in Chicago's Danish Community, where she and her husband were active in the Dania Society. Her parents immigrated separately to Chicago and were married around 1924. |
