Many men standing on a grassy area looking up, with bushes and trees in background, also a buggy in the background. One small child holding the hand of a man in the center of the picture. All of the men but five have on suit jackets, the five men have white shirts and ties. All men are wearing a ribbon badge that has a cross on it. The frame the picture is matted on is light grey with 1/16"line of grey 1/8" from edge of the matting. Around the picture is grey decorative design. Donor enclosed a copy of a letter from Joyce Pedersen of Colman who found the picture and gave it to the donor. The letter is as follows: Saturday, Sept 8, 2001. Dear Diane, This is the picture of the Danish Brotherhood that was in my parent's picture box. As far as I can determine the picture must have been taken in the late 19teen's or early 1920. My grandfather, Julius Pedersen is on the picture and he passed away in June of 1921. I don't know too many of these gentlemen, but will try to identify a few of them. In the far back row, the second from the left-Elmer Sorensen, third from the left, M. S. Sorensen In the next row, third from the left standing in front of Elmer is Nels Pedersen, the next in line is S. K. Sorensen, the fifth one is Carl Grave.. In the front row: first one is Julius Pedersen, second one is Carl Jensen, the small child is Milton Eledrup and holding MIltons hand is his father, Nels Eledrup. The two at the end of this row are Peter Nelsen and Ingwardt Christensen. In the very front row of the 3 gentlemen, beginning with the one holding a cap-I don't know who he is, or I don't know the next one, but the third one in this short row is Marinus Nelsen. Really I don't know if these identifications are all correct but are as close as I can come. Hope this will be helpful to you. Sincerely, Joyce Pedersen. A second letter was sent to Diane on October 31, 2001from Joyce Pedersen: Dear Diane, Since I sent the picture of the Colman Danish Brotherhood to you, some more information on the identifiaction of these gentlemen has turned up. Some years before her death, my aunt, Mrs. Peter (Annie) Nelsen made a list of who these men are. This list was found at my cousins home. According to what Aunt Annie wrote, the picture was taken in 1914. The names are as follows: Row 1-front-Julius Pedersen, back-Old Jens Laere Row 2-front-Carl Jensen, second-Nels Sorenson, third-Bauba Lars Row 3-front-Peter Peterson(standing beside Carl Jensen), second-Anton Anderson, third-Nels Pederson, fourth-Elmer Sorensen.
