Description |
Black and white wedding photograph of a man and woman in a doorway. The man (viewer's right) is wearing a dark colored suit with a light colored shirt and tie. He is also holding a paper in his proper left hand. The woman (viewer's left) is wearing a light colored dress with a calf length skirt and elbow length sleeves. She is also wearing a long light colored veil with shoes and stockings. Three people can be seen to the viewer's left of the couple including an elderly man with a beard and a young girl". There is also a partially obscured woman to the viewer's right of the couple. There is a sign above the doorway that reads: "DANSK-EV-LUTH. / TRINITATIS-KIRKE.". There is also handwritten text underneath the sign: "11. Juni 1922.". There is handwritten text on the back: "1. / Holger's ordaination day / & also / Holger & Dora Koch's / wedding. They moved to Kans. / to the / Danish Luth. Church / in Denmark, Kans. / where he was / pastor 1922-25. / (The initials on the / picture A.C.K. are / my uncle Axel / Kildegaard's-he must / have taken the picture. / He was a pastor & prob- / ably helped at the / ordaination. Little did / he know that his brother / would marry Holger's / sister 2 1/2 yrs. later!)". |

Shown here is a wedding photograph of Holger Koch and Dora Lauritzen on June 11, 1922 at the "Dansk Ev. Luth. Trinitatis Kirke" (Danish Evangelical Lutheran Trinity Church". Holger Koch was also ordained as a pastor on this day. The photographer identified as "A.C.K, was likely taken by Axel Kildegaard. Holger Koch (son of Hans and Ane koch) was born in Ashland, Michigan in 1893. He moved to Denmark with his parents before eventually moving back to the United States. On June 11, 1922 he became an ordained pastor and married Dora Lauritzen. They had three children together: Ela (born 1923), Verner (born 1925) and Helga (born 1927). After working as a pastor, teacher and brickyard owner, he eventually died in Solvang, California in 1979. |
