Black and white photograph of a smiling young boy standing next to a snowman. The boy is on the viewer left, wearing a dark hat, mittens, coat, pants and shoes. The snoman to the right is about his height and is decorated with a dark top hat, chunks of coal for its eyes, mouth and buttons, and a carrot nose. There is a brick building in the background. A label formerly attached to the back, now located in the accession folder, reads: "DENMARK/SEASONAL TRADITIONS / Every winter Danish children make snowmen, / using a carrot for nose and bits of coal for / eyes and buttons. When daddy isn't looking, / youngsters will also pinch his elegant top- / hat for the snowman. / 25/03/66/75". "D263x" is handwritten on the back. Below it at the center is the stamp "COPYRIGHT / SVEN THOBY / Søndervigvej 113 / København - Vanløse / Tlf. 71 22 87". Stamped in blue in the lower right corner is "COPYRIGHT / ROYAL DANISH MINISTRY / FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS / Press Department / Copenhagen - Denmark". |
