Postcard dated August, 22, 1911. Front is an image of Omaha General Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Back has handwritten letter from Jens Madsen. Inside album 1989.143.008a. 5 1/2" W x 3 1/2" L Peter Madsen was born on January 7, 1840 in Denmark. He immigrated to the United States in 1870 and became a citizen in 1878. Johanna Conradena Johansen was born December 10, 1848 in Jylland, Denmark. They married on October 7, 1871. Johanna died in 1888 from childbirth, and Peter in 1929. Both are buried in the Elk Horn Cemetery in Iowa. They had three daughters: Laura Sophie Sorensen, Martha Nelsine/Nicoline Andersen, Peterna Maren "Mary" Poulsen. Laurits (Lawrence) was likely their son. |
