Description |
Black and white photo of a woman and three men. Two men are in suits and ties and are standing behind the chair. The woman and the third man are sitting in a chair--the man is on the chair, the woman on his knee. She is wearing a dark shirt with a brooch on her proper left shoulder and a white apron, and she is looking at him. The man is wearing a white shirt with dark vine-like designs on it. Mounted on cardboard. Identifications are on the back: "L. to R. / Magda Lund & Lauritz Melchior / Lauritz' manager, + Eskild / Lund / In Viborg S. Dak in the 1950's / for a DBS celebration + concert / Had lunch at the Lund's / Home." |

The people in this photograph are Magda Lund, Lauritz Melchior, Melchior's manager, and Eskild Lund. According to a note from the donor, "In the home of Magda and Eskild Lund in Viborg, South Dakota, in the late 1950s, Lauritz Melchior visited for a DBS celebration & concert. He had lunch in the Lund home. Donor's parents later visited Lauritz in California at his home on Mullholland Drive." Magda came from Viborg, South Dakota, and was born November 13, 1907. She died February 8, 2005. Eskild was from Hjorring, Denmark. He was born March 2, 1902, immigrated in 1920 to Viborg, and died in July of 1985.
